Large, heavy boned semi-longhaired cat. Full maturity of color is not achieved until 2 years and full weight and size may not be reached until 4 years.
General: Large, heavy boned semi-longhaired cat. Full maturity of color is not achieved until 2 years and full weight and size may not be reached until 4 years. The over all impression is of flowing movement and subdued power. Females may be appreciably smaller than males.
Head: The head is a medium sized, broad modified wedge, with the appearance of a flat plane between the ears. Muzzle is round, medium in length, with well-developed chin. Nose to have a slight dip between eyes, neck is short, heavy and strong.
Ears: The ears are a continuation of the wedge. They are broad at the base, rounded at the tip and have moderate furnishings. The ears are medium in size with a slight forward tilt.
Eyes: Blue, large and oval. Outer aperture to fall in line with base of ear. Not oriental.
Body: Long with full chest, equally massive across shoulders and hindquarters, muscular and heavier in hind quarters, tendency for "fatty pad" on lower abdomen (Greater Omentum).
Legs and Feet: Medium long, heavy, back legs higher than front. Fur on front legs thick, short to medium in length. Fur on hind legs medium to long, thick and feather like. Feet round and feather tufted.
Tail: Long in proportion to body length. Medium at base with slight taper, carried at angle higher than back.
Coat: Medium long to long, plush and silky. Coat lies with body and breaks as cat moves. The fur is short on the face and increases in length from the top of the head down through the shoulder blades and back. Longer fur appears on the sides of the head and neck and increases to form bib area on upper and mid chest.
Color and Pattern: Definite contrast between body color and points. Allowance to be made for darkening in older cats as long as it is even. Penalize: White buttons, lockets or dark spots not called for in specific pattern; roman nose.
NFA: Kinked tail, crossed eyes, more than required number of toes. Other than blue eyes. Any white on points. Lack of white chin on Mitted. White on ears and tail of bicolor, any white on Color points, ROMAN NOSE.
Pattern Descriptions: Color point - ears, mask, feet and tail to be darker, well defined color. The color of the body progresses to lighter shades from the head and back down through the bib, chest and abdomen. Patches of the point color appearing on the belly are normal.
Mitted - ears, mask, tail, top of body and legs (except feet) well defined. A broken or unbroken white blaze of even dimension on nose and/or between the eyes is acceptable. MUST HAVE WHITE CHIN. There must be an unbroken line of white extending from the bib to the underbase of the tail. White mittens on the front feet should be matched. They should extend no further than the bend of the foot on the front and no further than the dewpad on the back of the foot. The white boots on the rear legs should fall between the hock and mid-thigh, with the white going completely around the leg. The boots need not match.
Bicolor - ears, tail, mask and top of the boy to be well defined color. Mask has a symmetrical, inverted "V ", the edge of which may not extend beyond the outer aperture of the eyes. Ideally, the edge of the "V" (NOT A STRAIGHT LINE, WAVY LINE, "M" OR "W") should pass through the eyes at some point, so as to avoid the look of a cat with an all white face, or the appearance of the cat having only a white nose. The point of the "V" should not extend over the top of the head All four legs and the underside of the body should be white. Any color on the legs should end above the elbow of front legs and above hock of back legs. Small patches of white on the back and/or sides is allowable. NOSE MUST BE PINK.
Penalize:
Mitted - color spotting on mittens or boots; white spotting on points, except feet.
Bicolor - color spotting on white area of mask or underside of body. All cats - short tail, short legs, cobby body.
NOTE The nose leather and paw pad color are extremely important in determining the color of the cat, especially in immature animals.
